Senior Network Engineer - Core Resources
Perform network engineering tasks in a professional, high-tech, multi-campus environment and be an integral part of the current and future design of our healthcare network. NYP's multi-vendor network infrastructure offers exposure to a variety of hardware devices (Cisco, HP, Adva, Aruba) and a diverse array of LAN and WAN technologies and software.

Customer Service
Maintains good relationships with customers, peer technical groups and other IT organizations/groups Works closely with NYP IS colleagues on all tasks in network engineering Available as a local point of contact with specific NYP customers Participates in user requirement discussions Operations
Monitor performance and capacity of network system components Troubleshoot complex application performance issues from a network perspective Provides 7x24 after hours on-call support on a team rotational basis (approximately 1 week per 2-3 months) Documentation
Develops clear and concise documentation of complex scope. May develop user documentation Contributes to the documentation of the design for networks Design and Planning
Determines and develops approaches to solutions Gives functional guidance to other team members Contributes to the development of new implementation guidelines or standards that pertain to NYP's network architecture Makes recommendations on how specific technologies will be deployed, accessed, utilized, and phased out Contributes to research of new technologies Participates in network architecture design teams Performs network engineering tasks for multiple projects supporting several hospital initiatives Consults with user groups to assess equipment needs Evaluates and tests new products
Key Criteria
Qualified candidates have five to seven years of related experience. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is also required; ideally, this degree is in computer science. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential to success. Candidates will need advanced expertise with TCP/IP networking concepts and experience supporting and troubleshooting firewall/security, IP routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT & VPN. Knowledge of authentication protocols (including RADIUS and LDAP), and Network Management Systems (EMS/NMS) is required. Mastery of BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, STP, TCP, UDP, Ethernet, Inter- and Intra-domain multicast is essential. This position also requires experience working with Cisco and HP networking product as well as solid experience with packet tracing/sniffing tools. May work without supervision on projects and tasks.
