Now Chetan Bhagat wishes to turn into a film producer and his friend director Mohit Suri will be a co-producer along with him in the adaptation of the this new book. Reports tell that Ekta Kapoor in a coupe of a sort visited the duo after midnight to discuss about the film and she will be a co-producer too in this project.
Since the producers for the film is now fixed, speculations are rife about who is going to play the female lead character of Riya in the film. The book is not yet release and mega release event is planned on 1st October this year. Although the book is not released a close source informs about the character of Riya as, "Riya is a student at St. Stephen's and has an air of self-importance around her. But that is just her exterior." Since Huma Qureshi and Kriti Sanon will be present during the book release mega event, it was rumored that one of them will be playing the role of Riya. However, the source clarified that, "No, they are just launching the book."
It is learnt now that Alia Bhatt will be playing the protagonist, as the source stated, "It's a role tailor-made for Alia and both Mohit and Chetan believe that Alia, who had earlier played Ananya Swaminathan in '2 States' based on another Chetan bestseller, will do complete justice to Riya. Alia herself is keen to work with Mohit, who is her cousin."
Mohit Suri when asked about Alia playing the central character in the filmy adaptation of ‘Half Girlfriend’ replied that, "Alia is an amazing actress. I'm currently developing the script and haven't reached the casting stage. All I can say at the moment is that she'd be great for the part."
With all the excitement in the air we can hardly wait for the movie to appear on the silver screen.
