Position Summary
Citrix's SaaS network consists of a large number of Routers and Switches spread across the globe in various datacenters. These devices support tens of thousands of ports of voice and video and a large amount of Internet traffic every day.
The purpose of the Network Engineer is to design, extend, operate and maintain some or all of these components while assuring an uptime of 99.99%. This position will be tasked with larger projects such as the expansions and capacity upgrades, will be involved deeply with the day to day operations of the network, will interface with the NOC and Global Customer Support teams to resolve customer issues and may be required to work closely with partners and suppliers.
A network engineer is expected to collaborate with the Network Architect to review and implement network and product modifications. A person in this position will be required to make tactical as well as strategic decisions.
MAY specialize in Routing and Switching, Voice technologies, or WAN infrastructure and MAY be responsible for specific subsystems from one of those classes.

- Configure routers, switches, load balancers and other network devices in accordance with best practices. Codify these best practices as templates and publish to the group.
- Maintain high network availability build for redundancy and resilience. Periodically test resilience by active testing.
- Work with the Network Architect to define requirements around network performance such as QoS and traffic shaping.
- Calculate capacity requirements, understand and account for peak load, manage peak load events
- Define Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational efficiency
- Translate strategy into day to day tactical decisions.
- Document and apply guidance on industry standards to improve current environment and practices.
- Continuously investigate and recommend alternatives to bring down operational cost
- Evaluate and oversee implementation of a carrier grade monitoring system
- Perform security audits of the subsystems to continuously improve the security posture. Define day-to-day procedures to achieve this end.
- Ensure compliance with various audit requirements such as SOX and PCI
- Maintain operational relationships with service providers, and equipment vendors.
- Provide escalated support to partners on and off hours.
- Be the highest level of support for escalated end-user issues.
- Plan for disaster recovery both on a global and on a site by site basis
- Create reports in system wide performance metrics.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English required.
- At least a 4 year degree in CS or ECE. Prefer candidates with M.S. in the same field.
- At least 5 years experience with Enterprise or service provider Networks
- Experience building and maintaining a 100person or 1000+ server network.
- 3+ years of on-call technical operations experience a plus
- Must be fluent with BGP and multi-area OSPF
- Experience operating Session Border Controllers (Genband or Sonus preferably)
- Advanced knowledge of VoIP: SIP, SCCP and H.323
- Understanding of voice encoding methods and codecs (G.711, G.729, G.722, iLBC, iSAC)
- Experience with managing state-ful firewalls.
- CCNP or equivalent certification required
- Fluency with Cisco IOS (or NX-OS) and JunOS
- Experience with the Cisco 65xx, Nexus, 72xxx, Juniper MX platforms.
- Experience with billing and CDR management systems
- Mastery of basic networking: Ethernet, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP
- Basic programming experience a plus (Perl, SQL, JAVA)
- Must be very customer oriented and eager to engage
- Able to solve complex problems by successive decomposition
- Experience juggling multiple responsibilities and prioritization of conflicting requirements
